September 17, 2005, Meeting of EAA Chapter 110
Times New Roman
The meeting was called to order by John Feemster at 1:30 pm at the
Wings Of History Clubhouse. All Chapter officers were in attendance.
Old Business:
1. Minutes of the August meeting were accepted and approved.
2. There was no Treasurer’s report.
3. There were no reports from Oskosh or other EAA activities.
New Business:
1. John Feemster has a R/C Cessna 172 that he would like to donate to
the chapter to use in a raffle to raise money for the chapter. The
value is approximately $300.00. After discussion it was determined
that we should wait for an opportunity to get more participants in the
raffle, such as next Spring’s So. County Airport open house.
2. Mike Reynolds, past chapter president, has purchased three Xair
aircraft. They all have foldable wings to facilitate storage. One
will be based in the San Jose area and the other two will be in Nevada
where Mike currently resides. Mike plans to reinstate his CFII and
obtain a Sport Pilot Instructor rating s he can start giving lessons.
He would like to work closely with our chapter.
3. Nominations are open for next year’s chapter officers. Nominations
will be accepted through October and we will vote for new officers in
November. The newly elected officers will take office in December.
All offices are available for interested nominees. John Feemster,
George Watson and John Gould expressed interest in retaining their
positions if no one comes forward. Rich Grialou expressed an interest
in not holding office in 2006. Please consider nominating
yourself if you have any interest in holding office, as member
participation will help build a strong chapter.
4. Vaughn McIlrath would like to turn the newsletter responsibilities
over to a new editor who can expand the content. If no one is
interested Vaughn will continue as editor but would like the
membership to contribute articles that he can include in the
newsletter. If you are interested in being editor or contributing
articles please contact Vaughn for more information on what is
required.
5. George Nicholson reported on a ‘Glass Cockpit’ presentation at the
Watsonville EAA Chapter 119 meeting. He said that it was an excellent
presentation and suggested that we try to get the presenter to give us
the same presentation.
6. John Feemster will try to get the local FAA inspector to give us a
presentation on what they look for when inspecting a homebuilt
aircraft.
7. Doug Rice of the CPA is going to meet with the FAA to discuss the
So. County and SCAPA issues with ultralights flying at So. County.
8. The status of the Hollister airport expansion/hangar rate increase
was discussed in detail. We will continue to monitor the situation as
a chapter as many members hangar, tie-down and/or fly out of Hollister.
9. At 2:00 John Gould moved that we conclude the business portion of
the meeting and move on to the round robin discussion. The motion was
seconded and carried and the meeting was adjourned.
