Squadron CX, 8/17/02 Meeting Notes

Our regular meeting was held at the Weatherly Hangar, Hollister Airport, led by John Gould.
At my best count, 25 people were in attendance.

This is the way our meetings should be!

George Nicholson, stepping out from behind the Weedhopper’s prop, gave a report on the high school’s Genesis II progress: 90% complete, 3 more 90%’s to go.

Wayne Horn has a single-seat, low-time Challenger for sale. (White with red flames on the nose in center of above photo.) $13,000 and you can fly it home.

Blade gave a report on his first flight in his weedhopper.

We were introduced to the Kitfox project (the white round-engine-looking taildragger at Gorge’s left above). Quite an amazing opportunity it is! Below are a couple more shots.

Don Wiggins attended with another opportunity: to fly off the hours needed on the Tundra he is completing.

There were discussions on:

    Speed, weight, & fuel limits.
The ultralight flight patterns at Hollister. We’re going to work on getting those published.
Club ownership and insurance issues around ultralights.

There could have been more that I missed, as I was having fun taking pictures!

We took a break, as Dave Hilpert’s newly aquired T-Bird arrived.

Also, for a group photo.

Blade gave a demonstration flight with his elegant Weedhopper.

Deke demonstrated a preflight on Wayne’s other Challenger.

There was something involving a potato gun that I missed entirely,

As the formal meeting concluded, airplanes were flying. Several of us enjoyed the real fun of touring the sky around the airport, and obliterating hotdogs, beans, chicken, cookies, etc., thanks to Dave Hilpert and John Gould.
