Minutes: June 18, 2005, Meeting of EAA Squadron 110

The meeting was called to order by John Feemster at 2:00 pm at the Wings Of History Clubhouse. 21 people were in attendance.

John Gould reported that we have $435.81 in our treasury.

John Feemster reminded those planning to go to Oshkosh check the Notam for the area. It’s available at: http://www.airventure.org/2005/flying/index.html#EAA%20AirVenture%202005%20NOTAM

.

John Gould: A meeting is planned with Carl Honaker on Wed. afternoon, the 22nd, to discuss South County Airport Pilots Association’s (SCAPA) difficulty with ultralight operations at South County Airport. All who can attend are encouraged to be there, at Mr. Honaker’s office, in the Terminal Building, at Reid Hillview Airport. (This is written after-the-fact. The meeting has transpired. See forthcoming Round Robin for what happened there.)

Stephen Mann: In January 2005, the FAA took his medical away, due to his Type II diabetes. Last week, a new medical certificate arrived, unsolicited, in his mail! There was no explanation. ???

Our Guest Speaker for the day was Doug Rice of the California Pilots Association, a non-profit aviation advocacy group, dedicated to preserving California airports. Check the website and join-up at: http://www.calpilots.org/

Doug is a full-time pilot, has been a member of the Airports Commission for 4 years, and was involved in the master planning for South County Airport.

He had many choice comments about the politics of airport operation. If you weren’t here, you missed a richly informative and entertaining afternoon.

Also, Doug is planning to become our local distributor for the Sky Arrow.

The meeting adjourned at 4:00 pm.
