Round Robin:
·
George
Nicholson: Check www.barnstormers.com – a great resource for information on
aircraft.
·
Harold
Marchant: About his visit to John Fletcher’s operation at Turlock, to see what
sort of aircraft J. F. has for sale. Several airplanes that can easily be
converted to Part 103 legal ultralights.
·
Stan
St. Leger-Barter: Helped to start a non-profit corporation recently, and says
it’s not difficult to do.
·
Lou
Janis: Treasury and how it came to be.
EAA Club vs. Club ownership.
BFI (Basic Flight Instructor) explained.
Training at Lodi (Bill Bardin, BFI)
Possibility of a fly-in to Castle Air Force Base.
·
John
Gould: Why we are here. Proposal: The Deke Memorial Fly-Out to Arlington,
Northwest Regional EAA Fly-In of 2005. An event that happens early in July each
year, and a trip worth making? Contact John Gould42@aol.com.
·
Harold
Marchant: The Golden West Fly-In is coming up, at Marysville, June 18 – 20.
·
John
Feemster: A proposal to continue the “Tech-Talk” portion of our meetings each
month, and a possible source for topics could be “Ultralight Flying Magazine”,
as it has a tech topic each month.
·
John
Feemster: Two recommendations: One is to use
radios when we’re flying.
Second is to use
strobe lights. Alec Chattaway uses two strobes while flying his power
parachute. Here’s Alec: “They are $26.70
each including postage from William Ulmer - flyingchance@voyager.net. He
accepts paypal.
When I fly
without the motor I use one attached to the bottom of my harness and plugged
into a 12V NiMh battery.
When I fly
with the motor I have one at the top and bottom of the prop cage and they are
plugged into the main battery and activated via a small radio shack toggle
switch on the frame.
You can find
them on ebay by doing a search for "Trike Gyros Ultralight Aircraft
PPC" where you can get them for
$24.70 if you're willing to wait.”
·
Lou
Janis: Can tune your radio antenna. He has the equipment to do that. Blade says
Lou’s tuneup on his weedhopper did the trick – works great.
·
John
Feemster: His Quicksilver is flying again.
·
Lou
Janis: Is organizing a fly-out to Castle AFB in June. Contact him at lou@adv-sys-eng.com.
The
meeting was closed at 11:00 am.
