Minutes: March 18, 2006, Meeting of EAA Ultralight Squadron 110
The meeting was called to order at 1:35 pm at the Wings Of History Clubhouse, by the President, John Feemster. 24 souls on board.
The minutes of the February meeting were approved as published on our website, www.aerodromehq.com.
Treasurer’s Report: John Gould - We currently have $1560 in the account. Mike Reynolds contributed $1000 from the parting-out sale of a Cessna 182, and $1600 came in from people who plan to keep their airplanes in the Chapter’s new hangar at South County. John noted that we spend about $180 per year for refreshments for the meetings.
Vaughn McIlrath passed on notes from people unable to attend, who had sent in e-mails:
Rich Grialou: Various notes regarding operating at South County – use of radios; watch for people using opposing runways at the same time; people flying a left hand pattern for rwy 32, instead of the published right hand; And – taking a conscientious pro-active stance to promote our Part 103 and Sport flying here. We have to be at least as awake as they are.
Bob Meuse: Bob’s in England, with his WWII 389th Bomb Group, visiting his old aerodrome Hethel, now used as a test track for Lotus motorcars. Bob says “Cheerio” and wants some of us to join him in the “Flight of the Eagles” going to Oshkosh in July. More information is available at the web site: http://www.flight-of-eagles.com/
Vaughn reported on attending a meeting the previous weekend in Monterey that was all about the Sport Pilot rating. A lively discussion ensued.
John Feemster: Announced that the EAA’s B-17 will soon be touring California; Next month the Watsonville EAA will host an event flying handicapped kids. To participate as a pilot, you will need to bring an airplane capable of carrying two passengers, and you will need to prove EAA membership, insurance, and proper aircraft paperwork.
John also has an application form for applying for aircraft registration with USUA, for ultralight aircraft. Registration is necessary to keep an airplane at South County.
Mike Ettl: New Guy! Brought up that noise is an issue at South County. Lou Janis related a story of Bill Bardin (instructor in Lodi) flying his Challenger around So. County as a test. The noise level was insignificant as compared to the Yaks and some other GA airplanes around the place.
The meeting was adjourned for the Round Robin and a visit to the new hangars.
