EAA Ultralight 110 Round Robin
DURING THE MEETING, January 27, 2007:
Jack Sunzeri – Robin Reid is flying the Hornet and giving Bill Denison a refresher course. They’re also installing an “intake silencer” to lower noise emanating from the carburetor intake manifold.
Stephen Mann – The Sprint has 12 hours on it.

Rusty Wells wants to know where to find cheap fuel. Rusty says Mike Reynolds is in Hood River, OR, picking up a Buccaneer, a 2-place Light Sport amphibian. Mike plans to use it for instruction.
Here’s a Buccaneer.
George Watson and John Feemster have bought the Rans Coyote that Mike Ettl is building. The wings are inside George’s house now, getting their fabric covering.

David and Janet Hinojosa became new members of EAA UL 110 today, under David’s name. They fly a Northwing Apache Trike and are looking for a hangar space to share at South County. David trained with John Fletcher. Welcome to David and Janet!
Here’s an Apache Trike.
Rich Grialou’s Sonex will get its annual on Monday, the 29th.
R.D. Gomez wants another airplane. He would love to find a Taylorcraft BC12-D. Does anyone know of one hanging around anywhere? Below is a BC12-D – check the panel!

Lou Janis and Blade Doyle went flying this morning, over San Juan Bautista and surrounding hills. They had a great time and want to fly with more people!
Steven
Winegarden is current again, accomplishing this in tail-draggers
at Amelia Reid Aviation. He also flew the CT-Cruiser, a powerful
light sport aircraft, with 40-degree flaps, but no rear visibility.
He prefers the Citabria, and slipping it in. Steve is near getting
his Challenger into the air.
Skip Forester was a guest today. Skip is John Gould’s flight instructor and has many hours of vaReid flying, including some “bush” time in Alaska.

Mike Ettl announced that our spontaneous fund-raiser, launched by Stephen Mann, raised $100 for the Club today!
Since the meeting:

John Gould and Rusty Wells brought home a Cessna 336, or at least pieces of one. John plans to build a flying fishbowl out of the thing. John’s wife, Valerie, is probably elated to have a Cessna around the house, as long as it’s not in the kitchen. ; )
Vaughn McIlrath has enrolled in a community college ground school course, as a brushing-up activity. Tuesday night was class #1 – the instructor was going over various pilot license ratings, and made no mention of Sport Pilot. I (Vaughn) raised my hand and asked “What about the new rating, “Sport Pilot”? The reaction in the room was bizarre - I got a distinct impression that no one knew what Sport Pilot is, including the instructor. If anything, there was some derision of the idea, as if Sport Pilots are not serious and questionably legal.
There’s educating to be done out there.
Steve White and Rich Grialou have been organizing our first “Low and Slow” Poker Run on May 5th.
Steve has also discovered a gold-mine of aviation history in a website about Glenn Curtiss, http://glennhcurtiss.com. (no “www”) If you go there, expect to spend plenty of time there – it’s an amazing collection of history. Here’s a Curtiss pusher:
