The Christmas Party: Our Christmas Meeting/Party will be held in combination with Wings of History, at 6:00 pm on Saturday, December 9, at the Wings Clubhouse. Anyone who plans to attend should:

  1. Wings of History will provide the main dish for dinner that evening. They need to know how many people to plan for and to collect $10 per person for the food. Please contact Evelyn Liebgold with the number in your party. Her phone number is 650-323-9238 and her e-mail address is jeffl64@sbcglobal.net. (note: It’s JEFFL64. The “L” looks like “1”).

You can pay ahead of time or at the door. You may send your check to Evelyn at

    Evelyn Liebgold
    397 Pope Street
    Menlo Park
    CA 94025

Make your check payable to Wings of History.

  2. Bring food – a side dish or dessert.

  3. Bring an inexpensive gift, value = $10 or less, wrapped, to include in the Wild Gift Grab.

  4. This is optional: Wings will hold a silent auction of special gifts, donated to the auction. The request is that we each bring an item with a value not to exceed $30 for the auction. The proceeds will go to the Wings of History.

John Feemster presented EAA Service Awards to John Gould, George Watson, Vaughn McIlrath and himself, as recognition of work for the year.

Election of Officers. New officers elected for the coming year are Mike Ettl as President, Lou Janis as Vice President, John Gould as Treasurer (continuing), and Vaughn McIlrath as Secretary (continuing).

Tech Talk was on flying low. John Feemster presented at least 4 considerations:

  1. Be sure you can land safely.

  2. Have a plan for power loss, or partial power loss.

  3. Density altitude if in high terrain or hot weather.

  4. If you’re in a canyon, be sure you can exit.

The subject stirred ample discussion and suggestions.

The meeting was adjourned at 2:23 pm.
