ULTRALIGHT OPERATION RULES
HOLLISTER AIRPORT
AUGUST 2003
- Ultralights may user only designated runways for takeoffs and landings
- Pattern altitude shall be 500 ft. AGL
- No flight in the air traffic area below pattern altitude except for takeoff and landing
- No turns below 200 ft AGL.
- No turns before designated ultralight pattern (See Map)
- Ultralights shall use radios on frequency 123.00 to announce intentions.
- All ultralights will fly the traffic pattern for the runway in use as determined by wind direction.
- Calm wind runway is 31.
- No straight in approaches.
- Ultralights on base leg shall give way to other aircraft and gliders on final.
- Ultralights shall avoid the designated parachute drop zone.
- No first time ultralight flyers. An instructor must accompany a person who is not experienced in ultralight operation unless they have achieved solo status. Persons with private pilot rating or higher are exempt from this requirement.
- No formation flying.
- Ultralight pilots are to use common sense in the traffic pattern (i.e. be alert for aircraft preparing to enter the active runway and give way).
- All standard FAA rules of right of way shall be observed.
